It has been over 50 years since I first practiced Medicine in Idaho and the changes that have occured in the art during that period are tremendous. Going back 150 years instead of 50. one truly appreciates the astounding magnitude of the advances that have been made to the present time. My great-grandfather practiced Medicine in Oregon Territory and then in Idaho Territory in the mid-nineteenth century. Most of the details of his life then are nebulous so, using the few facts that are known, I created embodying those and placed him in the setting in which my relatived lived and practiced. Fortunately, I had access to medical writings of the 1840s and 1850s so I could arm Dr. Todd with the tools and knowledge of that era. “The Dash of Dr. Todd” chronicles a life parallel to that of my great=grandfather but is not a biography about him.
